MPP appeals to KSDC

IMPHAL, November 19: Manipur Peoples Party appeals to the Kuki State Demand Committee to lift the indefinite total bandh imposed along the Kuki inhabited areas.

Speaking to media persons in the regard today, S Umananda Singh, President of the regional political party stated that a sense of congeniality among the different communities of the State should be brought to bring about development.

“ We feel that our Kuki brethren will heed the request to call off the strike which is affecting the Manipuri populace as a whole and not to a particular community”, Umananda added that Manipur is inhabited by 36 different tribes. He stated that the boundaries of the State have been carved out by our ancestors and the same has been maintained by the ethnic communities without differences of opinion.

Further, the wishes of a particular community imposing its stance which disturbs the overall welfare of the public is not agreeable to the MPP and hence the appeal to the concerned to maintain a sense of unification to bring about the common good is highlighted,

The President further mentioned the demand of the Inner Line Permit is supported by the political party and will join in the demonstrations to be organized at New Delhi on November 25.
