More than 100 Lakh Tonne Rice Procured

New Delhi, Nov 8: Over 100 lakh tonne rice has been procured by the Government agencies during ongoing Kharif Marketing Season, 2012-13. As per data made available to the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution total 100,73,415 lakh tons rice has been procured till November 8,2012 during the season while during the last season it was 94,06,495 tonne on the day.

Highest procurement has been made in Punjab, i.e. 76,02,875 tonne followed by Haryana 24,11,439 tonne and Andhra Pardesh 33,483 tonne. Chandigarh have also made significant procurement by procuring 11,256 tonne..
