Wife and Son of ex-MLA candidate shot at this morning


Imphal, Oct 7(UNA): In a tragedy incident, a mother and son were shot at after they fail to fine the husband and a father of the said two injures persons on Sunday morning.

According to the police and the family members the attacks was carried out by the Zomi Revolutionary Army (ZRA).

Though the reason behind the attack was not known the house owner was a St. Peter School proprietor who also contested in the last 10 assembly election.

The attack took place around 9:30 am located at Game village zone-II under Lamphel police station.
The injured mother is identified as one P. Manpi wife of P. Sonlianlal alais Lalapu who is the proprietor cum principal of the St. Peter English School, and the injuries son identified as p. Liankhanson (28) yrs.

Liankhanson, right shoulder was said penetrated by the bullets with some injured in face, P. Mangpi was reported injured in his left armed. And at present they were having treatment at Shija Hopsital RIMS.

According to P. Sonlianlal aka Lalpu disclosed the media person that, this morning at around 9:30 am while the family members were having morning food, three unknown youths visited his residence and asked him for a talk.

“As the family were having morning food, he send his wife to verify, who they are” and later when after his son finish his food after some minute a argument between my family and the unknown person was occurred and this unfortunate incident was occurred added Lalpu.

Lalpu further said that, if his wife and son did not fight against the three militants then my family might no more today.

When inquired by the press media regarding his enemy, Lalpu lamented that he have an ZRA UG group today which is under the Suspension of Operation with India/ Manipur government regarding stop him to contest the last 10th Manipur Legislative Election. And so it is suspected that today incident occurred is related and suspected to be done by the cadres of the ZRA he added.

In the meantime, out of the three cadres one identified as Thangboi Lungdim s/o KG Lungdim Churachandpur district was arrested by the general public of the Game village zone-II and handed over to Lamphel police.

From the arrested person the police have recovered on .38 9mm pistol along with five live round, one projectile and a empty case from spot.

Meanwhile, condemning against the firing which occurred injure mother and son, the Game Village zone-II general public including the women society organized a sit-in protest, by demanding to arrest the culprits who involved in today incident and to take up suitable action as per law.
