Save Nambul River campaign launched


IMPHAL, October 25: As part of the Save Forest to Save Rivers for Fresh Lake and Ocean campaign, volunteers involved with the campaign today launched a “Save Nambul” awareness campaign today.

The awareness campaign was formally launched by Iroishemba Irong Laipham Thougal Lup secretary S Merajao by flagging off a river rafting team from the confluence of Sinda River and Luwang E River at Nambul Maru, Iroishemba early this morning at 9:30am.

The river  rafting team which comprised of two rafts carrying four rafters each concluded their journey at Hiyangthang.

Soon after reaching Hiyangthang, the team was welcomed by the Hiyangthang and hold an awareness campaign at the Kamakhya Social Youth Club, Hiyanthang in the evening.

The river rafting team carried banners reading, “Phatta Haodi Turel Khongnung da Langshinbiganu” (Please don’t dump garbage into the rivers), “Nambol Turel Manghun gumshi”, (let’s not harm Nambul River).
