PLA launches another bomb attack on AR

IMPHAL, Oct 8 : The pros-cribed PLA has launched another IED attack on Assam Rifles personnel this morning around 6.30 at Khumbong-Moidangpok junction in Imphal West.

However, no casualty has been reported.

A police source said a high intensity explosive was triggered just when a convoy team of 28 AR stationed at 9 Sector Headquarters at New Keithelmanbi crossed the area this morning.

The AR convoy team, consisting two Gypsys and a mini-truck, was heading towards Imphal.

Following the explosion, shops were closed in Khumbong Bazar.

The proscribed RPF/PLA has claimed responsibility over the bomb attack on a routine patrolling party of 28 AR troops under 9 Sector today around 6.30am at Khumbong-Moidangpokpi junction near Lairembi Lampak.

A statement issued by the chief, department of publicity, RPF, Taohangsu Heirem- cha said the attack was carried out by Special Warfare Group of the PLA while also speculating some casualty on the part of AR personnel.

Meanwhile, a team of 116 BSF personnel posted at Heirok Litan Makhong Chingdompok recovered bombs and a gun during a search operation this morning around 6.40. Two hand grenades and a 9mm carbine along with four live rounds were recovered by the team inside a water supply project, just around 500 metres away from the BSF Post.

In another unrelated incident, tension ran high at Keirenphabi and Thangalawai along Moirang-Kumbi road in Bishnupur district this morning over a hoax bomb.

A team of 33 AR personnel came across a stuff that appeared like a bomb under a culvert at Keirenphabi-Thangalawai junction. On closer examination, the stuff turned out to be a polythene bag with wire inside it.
