IRB man assaulted by bikers

Imphal, Sep 25: Amidst the hue and cry of assault case of T Robert Maram in Imphal and missing of MR Jawan at Jiribam, another case of physical assault on a Senapati lad who is a new IRB recruit in Imphal on September 23 night by some miscreants surfaced.

According to family source, RP Patrick Kangba s/o R P Anthony of Oklong village presently residing at Makhrelui Village, DHQ was assaulted by some bike borne persons using batons and sticks, seriously injuring the victim at the head.

Patrick, a Havildar of 1-coy under 5th IRB recently joined the training center at Pangei for training. While he was returning from Imphal after shopping in an Autoricshaw, some bike borne persons armed with sticks and batons stopped his auto and began to attack him without any explanation.

The victim was left to die before a team of Imphal East Commando police patrol team found him and admitted to the Pangei Training center for medical aid. The victim has been treated for serious head injuries with 15 stitches at Raj Polyclinic, North AOC, stated sources.

According to the victim, he was attacked near Minuthong near north AOC. The perpetrators zoomed off before any witness could ascertain their identity. The family members appealed to the concerned authorities for booking those culprits at the earliest.
