Due to heavy rain in the hills of Arunachal Pradesh 20 villages of Assam flooded


Guwahati Sep 13 : Sudden wave of flood have affected at least 20 villages in Chilawati, Demow, North Dhemaji and Lakhipathar area in Dhemaji district, Assam on Wednesday.

Due to sudden heavy rain in the hills of Arunachal Pradesh, the water level of several rivers started rising rapidly inundating a vast area in the district, officials said.

Dhemaji district authorities said, ‘Due to incessant rain in the Arunachal hills, the water levels of almost all the rivers passing through the district like Ronganoi, Gelanoi, Gai, Jiadhol and Chilaboti are rising since this morning. So, it is expected that the situation may take a serious turn in the next 12 hours in Dhemaji again if the water level rises continuously’.

Mention may be here that, in Dhemaji, this is the fourth consecutive wave of floods this year so far. Earlier, more than 1 lakh people of Dhemaji and over 2 lakh in northern Assam districts were affected by floods this year.
