Grand reception of MC Mary at CCpur saw huge crowd

IMPHAL, August 26: A huge crowd have turned up at the grand reception ceremony of London Olympic Bronze Medalist MC Mary Kom today at Churachandpur Public Ground.

The programme was jointly organized by District Administration, Churachandpur and Autonomous District Council, Churachandpur.

The programme was also attended by Phungzathang Tonsing, Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Dr Chaltolian Amo, chairman of Hill Area Committee, Manipur Legislative Assembly, TN Haokip, MLA others high ranking officials of various departments in the district were also seen at the function.

Army and paramilitary forces posted in the area were also seen coming for the reception function.

Various communities residing in the area presented gift items to the boxer. The programme saw celebration in full swing with music from live bands and other cultural programmes.

Meanwhile, the DRDA announced a grant of 10 lakh from its fund to build a gallery in the name of Mary Kom as MC Mary Kom Gallery next year.
