A moderate magnitude earthquake rocks Manipur

Imphal, July 15: A moderate magnitude earthquake of 5.7 ML rocked the entire Manipur and adjoining regions. The earthquake which was triggered at 01 Hr 25 Min 19.50 Sec AM (IST) was felt at 01 Hr 55 Min 34 Sec.

The epicentre was located at 25.357oN/94.486oE in the Chingai Sub Division, Ukhrul District of Manipur State 88 km from Imphal. The depth of the earthquake is estimated as 8 km. The felt duration is about 6 sec approximately.

There was no immediate report of any loss of life or property due to it.

The tremors followed two moderate intensity quakes that shook parts of northeastern states, including Manipur, on July 1.
