NH-39 bandh suspended

IMPHAL, June 11: The indefinite bandh imposed by the JAC formed in connection with the killing of Paokholet Haokip along National Highway-39 (Imphal-Moreh road) since 6 am Wednesday has been temporarily called off.

The bandh was suspended after an agreement was reached during a meeting at Pallel in Chandel district this afternoon which was attended by representatives of the JAC, Tengnoupal constituency MLA DK Korungthang, ADC Chairman Sesei and two local ADC Members, namely Tongpao Mate and Chanthoi Aimol.

At the meeting, it was agreed that the demands of the JAC would be fulfilled and its leaders would be assisted by the MLA in submitting a memorandum to the state Chief Minister on the killing of Paokholet, and that the JAC would decide its next course of action after knowing the response of the CM.

The meeting also decided to suspend the indefinite bandh along NH-39 with immediate effect.
