Huge cache of arms seized in Assam, six arrested
Guwahati, June 3 (Agencies): A huge cache of sophisticated arms was recovered by the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and the local police here recently.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Assam, Apurba Jibon Baruah, said the arms were brought from Myanmar through Nagaland.
"We have recovered 25 AK-74 rifles, 400 ammunitions of AK-74, a 0.32 Beretta Tomcat pistol, 20 live ammunitions and 400 live ammunitions of 9mm. We have also seized magazines of AK-74 rifles," Baruah said.
Police arrested six men belonging to Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) in connection with the incident.
"Two men were coming from Nagaland and Myanmar, from Manipur. They had brought the arms for the Garo National Liberation Army and four men of the Garo National Liberation Army, who were supposed to collect these arms were also arrested," Baruah added.
