Yairipok Nagar Panchayat elects chairperson
IMPHAL, Dec 1: S Ranjita Leima, councilor of ward No. 1 of Yairipok Nagar Panchayat was elected uncontested as new chairperson on Nov 19 in the presence of SDO Thoubal, Y Rajen Singh.
The election of the new chairperson was done following a no confidence motion was served against the former chairperson Th Nokul Meitei by S Romola Devi of ward No 8, S Ranjita Leima of ward No 1, L Haryari Devi of ward No 4, Nashira Begum of ward No 6 and S Tunanbi Devi of ward No 7. It is notable that the said five woman councilors have been applying to join Congress party and Congress party has permitted them entry into the party.
