Tewari expresses grief over acid attack victim’s death; seeks fast track trial

LUDHIANA, December 27: Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Manish Tewari today expressed profound grief over the sad demise of the 22 year old acid attack victim who breathed her last at National Burns Centre Mumbai early today after battling for life for 20 days.

The victim was attacked while she was getting ready for her marriage in a Ludhiana beauty parlour on December 7 last.

The Minister demanded that those responsible for this heinous act must be tried in a fast track court in a time bound manner and handed over exemplary punishment for the brutal crime they committed.

Expressing grief over her death, Tewari said, it was unfortunate that the young victim could not survive. Sharing the pain of her family members, Tewari prayed that they come out of this trauma and tragedy over the loss of their dear daughter.

The Minister said, as a parent himself he could feel their trauma and pain about the loss of their daughter who while getting ready for her marriage was handed over a brutal fate in a most inhuman and barbaric manner.
