Miscreants attack Nungba makeshift camp
IMPHAL, Dec 15: At around 4.15 pm yesterday, at Thingou which is located 20 kilometres north of Nungba police station under Tamenglong PS, some miscreants suspected to be hill based underground elements attacked the makeshift camps of the labourers.
In the attack, an earthmover and a Maruti van suffered damages. On hearing the sounds of gunfire, personnel of 6th IRB post located in the vicinity rushed to the scene and retaliated the attack.
Gunfire was exchanged between the two sides for some minutes and the miscreants reportedly fled the area by crossing over the Barak river.
Additional forces were called in and search and verification operations were conducted as a follow up. It may be mentioned that the attack occurred during the time of the Orange Festival which was held yesterday.
