Unemployment the bane of the state, says Ibobi

IMPHAL, November 29: The state government takes serious note of the widespread unemployment problem being faced in the state and is making every possible effort to find a lasting solution to provide suitable jobs for the teeming educated and unemployed youths which is proving to be a big headache both for the central and state governments.

The statement was made by the chief guest, Chief Minister O. Ibobi at the inaugural function of the Indoor Stadium of Waikhom Mani Girls’ College, Thoubal, constructed under the 11th Plan of University Grants Commission.

Addressing the gathering, Ibobi further divulged that he discussed the issue of unemployment in the state with officials of the Planning Commission, representatives of DONER Ministry and other entrepreneurs on the sidelines during the recently concluded North East Business Summit at Dibrugarh University, Assam, while expressing his wish to make a united effort to solve it.

He further stated that the Government wishes to see the students of the state grow up to be educated, well informed and responsible citizens while stressing on the priority being given to law & order, education and health sectors without neglecting the rest of the sectors.

Speaking on the long endured plights of the Aided Colleges in the state, the Chief Minister assured everyone of the best possible policies the ruling Government is trying to implement for the welfare of everyone concerned without partiality and also stressed on the positive future in the education sector with the introduction of Right to Education Act to implement free and compulsory education for every children in the country and also announced the preparations the government have made to implement RUSA Scheme under the Right to Education Act. latest by March 2014 in the state.

He also warned of the over expectations that could derail the whole scheme. M. Okendro, Minister for Education and CAF, in his presidential speech, laid out the plan for developing Education Tourism with serious consideration for setting up a Government Polytechnique at Moreh which will provide technical education to students from neighbouring Myanmar.

He also elaborated on the first State Council Meeting after the introduction of RUSA, scheduled for 30th November 2013 for drawing up a perspective plan to be completed by March next, with the intention of the O. Ibobi led government to closely monitor the activities and attendance of the students while laying emphasis on the positive impact to be felt by the teachers and students alike once RUSA Scheme has been completely implemented in the whole of the State. the highlight of today’s function was the distribution of awards to the students of the College who were amongst the top ten performers of the BA/B Sc examinations conducted by Manipur University in the State.
