SI led team arrested for robbing shopers
IMPHAL, November 1: Four individuals led by a state police Sub Inspector have been arrested following a complaint of robbing shoppers at Hiyanglam, yesterday.
Hiyanglam police have registered a case against four individuals including a Sub Inspector for allegedly robbing people using small arms following a complaint.
The case has been registered under 143 (10) 2013 KCG P/S u/s 385/419/506/279/338/427/34 IPC, 27 A Act & 25 (I-C) A. Act.
According to reliable sources, locals had lodged a complaint alleging that on October 31 around 4:47 pm four individuals in civilian dresses identifying themselves as KCP cadres who came in a deep green coloured diesel jeep bearing regd number MNP 4404 assaulted and rob several shoppers at Hiyanglam Khongnang Khong Keithel.
The complaint said that of the four miscreants, two brandish small arms, said the source.
Soon after, the locals tried to get hold of the four at which, and in their haste to get away, they hit a diesel auto before making good their escape, the source said.
It is also learnt, that after the locals informed the police, the four were nabbed from Wabagai Lamkhai.
Following their arrest it was learnt that the team was led by a Sub Inspector posted at a police outpost at Thoubal Leishangthem and included two 4th IRB riflemen.
The four have been identified as Sub Inspector Potshangbam Jeffery Singh (who was holding a 9 mm pistol) son of Raghumani Singh of Singjamei Chingamakha; Irengbam Robindro Singh, son of Ibopishak Singh of Khumbong Bazar; 4th IRB rifleman Huidrom Herojit Singh (rifleman no 405201) son of Maniram Singh of Uyen Awang Leikainand 4th IRB rifleman Waikhom Ibemcha Singh (rifleman no 405090) son of Irabot Singh of Bashikhong Kongba Erang. IRB rifleman Waikhom Ibemcha Singh was also holding a country made pistol, informed the source.
