National Rail Museum of Indian Railways Celebrates Children Day

New Delhi, November 16: National Rail Museum of Indian Railways is celebrating Children’s day on 16th & 17th November 2013. On this occasion, a Drawing & Painting Competition had been organised for children on 16th November in the age groups of 0-7, 7-11 and 11-15 years. The event was very popular and the participants for the competition were more than 500 in number. The winners of this competition will be awarded during the Museum Day to be held on 1st February, 2014.

To encourage the participants, the entry fee for the children up to 12 years was kept free. Apart from this, free movie shows, magic show and puppet show have also been organised. The toy train as usual is a big attraction for the children and the elders too. Two trains are run one after the other to meet the expectations, Atmosphere in the Museum was full of fun, frolic and enthusiasm with balloons all over the place supplemented by high quality food items including Kulfi and Gulab Jamuns.

On both the days i.e. 16th & 17th November 2013, the museum will remain open from 0930 hrs to 1830 hrs. (Normal Timings of museum are 0930 hrs to 1730 hrs). Special lights have been provided to facilitate this. To add upon the festivity clowns, long man, tattoos, caricature have been arranged especially for children. Special discount has also been offered to the visitors on very popular Railways Souvenirs.

All these events have been made possible with the active involvement of National Rail Museum team, Railways Scouts & Guides, RPF, Staff from Northern Railway, Medical staff and Railway Volunteers, Faculty from Oak Grove School, Senior Railway officers, team of Delhi Police and Delhi Fire Service who have contributed in making this event a grand success. This is evident from the fact that 5000 visitors had entered the museum within first four hours of the event and many other visitors were still pouring in large groups till late in the evening on Saturday.

In view of heartening response from Children and the visitors today, Shri Uday Singh Mina, Director, National Rail Museum has expressed hope that visitors response on Sunday is expected in large groups and will be on higher side.
