Myanmar Arts exhibition concludes

IMPHAL, November 29: Arts Photo Exhibition at Nupi Lal Memorial Complex showcasing the products of six artistes from Myanmar concluded today.

The organizer Neo-Gene claimed that the exhibition attracted the maximum crowd ever during an art exhibition hosted in Manipur till today. More than 500 visitors who checked out the artworks gave written comments while many others took the tour at the exhibition but chose not to share their view.

There are 200 exhibits from Myanmar brought for the exhibition and two of them were sold.

The artists from Myanmar included a lady arts teacher for children, Cho Cho Aung whose interest to come to Imphal was because her grandmother was a Manipuri.

The organisers Neo-gene Contemporary Artist Manipur and Dev Bamboo Allied claimed that they have succeeded in the endeavor to share knowledge with Myanmar Art Club in the field of working arts.

During their last visit, the Myanmar delegates had purposed that artists from the state conduct a workshop along with them and display their talents at their country.

Organizers of the art exhibition said another cultural bridge has been built through arts and the whole credit goes to Manipur Sangai Festival. The art pieces were based on academic, religious, realistic and modern concepts. The artists asserted that the manifestation of new ideas in their works were possible because they are free now after the installation of a democratic government in the country.

The remaining photos of Myanmar will be available for display at a proposed Arts Gallery of Indo-Myanmar in the state. Arts and Culture commissioner RK Nimai have been made aware of the plan thought the state government has to consider it yet.

The Myanmar artist also conducted a competition for students to evaluate their knowledge on arts. Ten students have been shortlisted for the award. The selected students will be awarded one of the paintings being displayed.
