Memorial services of Lungnila Elizabeth held
IMPHAL, November 4: The soul of Baby Lungnila Elizabeth has now become a blessing for spreading the message of unity and peace among various communities living together in the state.
The statement was made by M Okendro Singh, minister of Education and CAF and PD during the memorial function of the student of Little Flower School who was kidnapped on the same day ten years back and whose body was discovered from Sagolband Tera Sadokpam Leikai some days later on November 12.
The function was jointly organized by the family members of Lungnila Elizabeth and Little Flower School at the premises of the school.
M Okendro Singh; father of Lungnila and minister of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Francis Ngajokpa; Z Kikhonbou Newmai, vice chairman of Hill Area Committee; Ram Muivah, principal secretary (works) along with the mother of late Lungnila and other family members attended the memorial function.
During the function, Francis Ngajokpa appreciated Little Flower School for organizing the observation on her death anniversary and talked about her daughter and further appealed for peace and mutual respect amongst all communities residing in the state.
The family also distributed wall clocks to the class toppers of the school.
Meanwhile, the tenth death anniversary of Lungnila Elizabeth was also observed today at Kyamgei Heibong Makhong organised by the Kanglei Sport Academy, Kyamgei (Kangleisha) and National Highway 37 Truck Owner’s Association
MLA Konthoujam K Sarat led in paying floral tribute to the portrait of Lungnila Elizabeth.
Large number of womenfolk and elders of the area also joined in offering floral tribute.
Speaking at the observation, president of the truck owner’s body, Kh Inaobi, maintained that the main objective behind the observation is to pay homage to Lungnila Elizabeth who had promoted a bond of oneness and spirit of peaceful co-existence between the people of the hill and valley.
He reminded the words of her father Francis Ngajokpa on the day her dead body was found asserting that Lungnila was not only their daughter but belong to Mother Manipur.
Songs based and dedicated to Lungnila Elizabeth were also performed by the artists of Roop Raag and shawls were distributed to the elders and womenfolk by K Sarat.
