Maoist bandh affects normalcy

IMPHAL, November 23: The 24-hour general strike called by the Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) Maoist starting from midnight November 21 affected normal life in the state capital as all inter-state and inter-district passengers service remained off the road. All shops in the main commercial areas and other business establishments, schools and colleges were closed.

The two main market places of the state capital - Paona Bazar and Thangal Bazar and three Ima Keithel witnessed no activities. Attendance at government offices was also very low.

KCP Maoist had called the 24-hour general strike as the first step of the people’s resistances for the native land. The effect of the strike was also seen in the Manipur Sangai Festival as the number of visitors there remained low.
