Manipur Industries Union celebrates foundation day

IMPHAL, November 18: Entrepreneurs and general public of the state need to maintain self-discipline, sincerity in their work culture and proper time management for the development of the state’s industrial sector, opined Commerce and Industries, additional director, V Twalthang.

Speaking as the chief guest at the 35th foundation day celebration of Manipur Industries Union (MIU) and first Ingudam Birachandra memorial MIU sinmee award 2012, the additional director also observed that the development of the industries also requires electricity supply and proper road connectivity.

The state is, however, lacking in the essential requirements for development of industrial sectors which need immediate boost up, the officer continued.

The function was organized by the MIU at the Manipur Press club today.

Continuing with his speech, V Twalthang lauded the MIU on its completion of 35 years of service and said the long years of existence of the union speaks by itself of the work culture and unity amongst the employees of the union which is quite encouraging and should be simulated by all entrepreneurs.

The government has been implementing various schemes for promotion of industries, and as such those in the industrial sectors need to work hard to get the benefits which have been implemented for the promotion of industries, he said.

The Commerce and Industries, additional director also said that those in the industrial sector need to urge the concern authorities to provide the requirements for an industry.

President, MIU, S Chaothoi Singh stated that development of the state or a country is possible only when the production of essential commodities is sufficient.

The production of handicraft and handloom items in the state has seen much improvement in terms of numbers and designs since the past couple of years, he said before adding that the problem now is the lack of market for the finished products.

The insufficient supply of electricity is another major problem affecting the industrial sector, he said.

Meanwhile, the first Ingudam Birachandra Memorial MIU Sinmee Award 2012 was awarded to Sanasam Nabachandra Singh of Kwakeithel Mayai Koibi, Keithelakpam Robindro of Uripok Lamboikhongnangkhon and Telem Gunamani Singh of Udhabon Ching Leikai, Cachar.
