JAC formed on the death of Devjani
IMPHAL, November 23: A Join Action Committee (JAC) was on Friday formed against the unnatural death of Keithelakpam Ongbi Devjani due to negligence of the doctors of RIMS immediately after the delivery of her second child.
Interacting with the media persons at the premises of Lukram Lairak Youth Club, Soibam ongbi Nelima, secretary of the Citizen Welfare Rural Development Organization mentioned that the unnatural death of Devjani was a sorrowful incident, adding that the incident occurred due to habitual negligence of the doctors and nurses of the RIMS hospital.
She further continued that a JAC was formed in this connection, adding that the attitude of the doctors and nurses is condemnable by one and all. She demanded the concerned doctors and nurses to give befitting punishment as soon as possible.
During the press briefing, a family member of the victim said that they did not believe the doctors of the RIMS hospital, so they referred the dead body to JNIMS for necessary postmortem.
Later on, five resolutions were adopted during the meeting of the JAC which reads as firstly, to collect the death body after having post mortem examination; secondly, to organize dharna everyday even though the last rites of Devjani was performed; thirdly, to appeal the people of Lukram Leirak to kindly participate in the dharna; fourthly to demand for immediate resignation of the RIMS director on moral ground and fifthly, to demand for immediate dismissal of Dr Jitendra and his staffs.
Later on, the JAC along with the family members have collected the dead body of Devjani after necessary post mortem examination was conducted at JNIMS morgue.
