Acting is a purely hobby thing says panelists

New Delhi, November 15: Acting in films by childern should not be treated as income earning metod, its should be purely a hobby thing for them, said renowed film maker Amol Palekar here on Friday.

Speaking at a open forum conducted here at IMAX theatre, the main venue of the ICFFI on ‘Children in Media: Rights of child artists’, he elaborated that children are more active when compared to the elders, but that this should not be taken to force them to act in more and more films.

Andhra Pradesh Children’s Film Society chairman, M. Vedakumar said making of the films is nothing short of an industry, so naturally the child actors should be treated as workers, if they act in the films on money payment.

Children should act in films only in their free time and education has to get the utmost importance. The acting in the films should not be treated as amoney earning thing, he said.

Children Film Society India CEO Shravan Kumar explained on the rules nad regulations being framed by the Ministry of Information and broadcating.

The other panelist Bobeetha Sharma, actress and activist from Assam spoke on the recent trends in media shows where childern become the key actors. She suggested that the children should not be exploited emotionally, physically and mentally for the success of the TV shows.

Uma mugal of Hyderabad was moderator at the open forum, which was attended by a large number students and delegates and film personalities.
