Grenade lobbed at IFCD Minister Quarter
IMPHAL, April 26: Unidentified persons suspected to be undergrounds lobbed a hand grenade at the residence quarter of Irrigation and Flood Minister Ngamthang Haokip who also holds the portfolio of Printing and Stationery Control at Sajengthong Chasad avenue under Porompat police station in Imphal East district today at around 6.40 pm. Police bomb disposal team arrived at the scene and safely detonated the said bomb.
According to the police personal who were posted as the home guard of the Minister, the incident happen at around 6.40 pm when they heard a sound of something fallen inside the complex of Minster’s quarter and when they search the area they found a hand grenade in the place where the sound were heard he also said that he show two unidentified person were seen moving toward the southern after the sound were heard the lever of the bomb were found some few meters away in the neighbouring gate of Minister.
Angam Romanus Superintendent of police Imphal east and commando Imphal east Officer in charge of Imphal east Achouba arrive at the scene look up the spot.
Speaking to the media person Minister IFCD said that the incident is very unfortunate in a highly security zone in the heart of the citys where the high levels officers are staying and the incident might be happen due to lapses of the security.
When asked by the media person where is there any treat or demand by the underground on him he answer that he had received some treat from some underground organisation who are not signed in suspension of operation groups with the state and central government as they demand is a kind of demand which can be beard by anyone.
He also said that is it very unfortunate that official quarter of the Minister and MLA are still occupied by some former MLA and minister and still they don’t vacant their Quarters and some of the Present MLA are not able to get their Quarter at Babupara in a highly security zone and if his quarter where allotted at Babupara Today incident might not Happen
