Further remanded to judicial custody

IMPHAL, October 22: The CJM, Chandel has ordered further judicial remand for Jevi Wangtit the main accused in the Catherine Murder case to judicial custody. He was later taken to the Sajiwa Central Jail after being produced before the lower court this evening.

Jevi Wangtit alias Koko, 26 son of J Siphung of Lamkang Khunou is accused of killing his lover Catherine Lamkang, 18 daughter of Kh Simon of New Lamkang Khunthak after impregnating her during the intervening night of October 1 and 2 at Laithokching along the Aimol Saitu village road under Tengoupal PS.

Catherine’s pregnancy was found only during post mortem of her dead body at JNIMS.

The accused was arrested by a police team led by SDPO, Moreh H Balaram and OC Tengoupal Umar Alam on October 15 at 5:30pm from Japhou Bazar, Chandel.

He had later disclosed to the police that after impregnating Catherine he got romantically involved with another girl. As Catherine became a problem in his new relation he had killed her, he had told police after his arrest.
