AIDS awareness campaign
Imphal October 13(UNA): A team of medical officers and paramedical staff of 9 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector under aegis of HQ IGAR (South) conjunction with OSOM (Organisation for Salvation of Man) conducted an ‘AIDS Awareness Campaign’ at Kongdong Leiharaubuy Lampak Ward No 7 Moreh, on 12 Oct 12 said a release on Saturday.
A total of 150 patients benefited from the camp. Apart the regular check up, emphasis was also laid on educating the locals about AIDS & its preventive measures Information Education Communication (IEC) materials were distributed and integrated Centre (ICTC) service were also provided to the people.
Counselling by OSOM counsellor was also carried out. In addition, Medical Officer delivered a lecture highlighting the need for awareness of HIV, prevent it from taking further toll in the society. Inhabitants were also briefed about the symptoms of the diseases so that an early detection and timely treatment is possible.
