17th Loktak day observed

IMPHAL, October 29: The 17th Loktak Day Celebration was held today under the motto “Save Loktak, Loktak is our life” at Komlakhong Ireima Lampak.

The celebration function was jointly organized by the Loktak Day Celebration Committee and Komlakhong Youth Development Association and sponsored by Dr Kh Ratankumar Singh, Minister of Works & Transport.

The function was attended by Dr Kh Ratankumar Singh, Minister of Works & Transport, M Prithibiraj Singh, Parliamentary Secretary, Youth Affairs and Sports & Tourism, Oinam (O) Barni Devi, Member, 14-Uchiwa Zilla Parishad, Ashem (O) Sandhyarani Devi, Pradhan, Laphupat Komlakhong GP, H Khogen Singh, Sub Divisional Engineer, Telecom as the chief guest, president and guests of honour respectively.

Addressing the function as chief guest, Dr Kh Ratankumar emphasized on the need of people’s support and co-operation in saving Loktak lake.

He said that the state government is taking every step possible to keep the Loktak Lake neat and clean. But Still no matter how hard the government tries without the support and co-operation of the people the Loktak Lake cannot be saved.

Let us not only depend on the government. We all need to contribute in order to save the Loktak, the minister added.
