NDMA Team to Visit Guwahati

New Delhi, Sept 17: V.K. Duggal and Shri K.M. Singh, members of National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), will be visiting Guwahati on September 18-19, 2012 to review the recent floods in Assam with the Minister incharge of Disaster Management, Chief Secretary, DGP and other senior officers of Assam. The team will also analyse as to what can be done to improve the existing early warning, preparedness response and mitigation systems for future and what assistance can be provided by the Govt. of India in this regard. 

The Members will be accompanied by Shri B.S. Aggarwal, Jt. Advisor (Mitigation Projects) and Dr. S.K. Jena, Senior Research Officer. 

S/Shri C.K. Agrawal, Chief Engineer, Deepak Kumar, Superintendent Engineer (Coordination) from the office of Central Water Commission, Shillong/Guwahati, Shri Avdesh Kumar from India Meteorological Department, Guwahati, Faculty Member from Administrative Training Institute, Guwahati and Shri Kashindra Yadav, Chairman, Brahmaputra Board and Dr. Digmber Barman from North Eastern Space Application Centre, Shillong, and Shri A.K. Singh, Commandant, NDRF Batallion, Guwahati will also be attending the meeting.
